6/14-15/14

Friend was late D: but I ate some delicious food in Santa Fe! Note to self: I owe Ben like ~15 dollars.

Working on a budget…

My to do list just does not stop growing 😦

ST: Will fill in progress

QCD: Will fill in progress

Neutrinos: Organized scheduling for the summer some and now onto ROOT tutorials!

MATH:

Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science.

Training is soooo much fun…and there’s more tomorrow!

Neutrino/LANL: Got my to-do list for the week, effectively! Which is good 🙂 Getting a computer setup soon~
Attended a seminar on PHENIX and am learning some heavy ion physics.

ST: Apparently, panic is not necessary. There’s no real progress on the paper…which makes sense, given that it’s mostly my responsibility and I’m sort of a roadblock at the moment.
This is pretty cool http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/10041/how-to-get-only-files-created-after-a-date-with-ls

Fitness/Nutrition: Schedule it allll out. I just need to get in on time and do it! Food has been planned all day and dinner sounds amazing. EVERYTHING WENT ACCORDING TO PLAN. Not bad for a bad night’s sleep 🙂
On food…this looks good: http://blog.foodnetwork.com/fn-dish/2014/06/altons-top-5-tactics-to-make-steak/
Run went moderately well…but I ate two donuts that were less than planned @_@ so I’ll be making that up later I guess 😛

This is really cool.

and http://www.1percentedge.com/ifcalc/

Grocery shopped like a boss.

…No CD drive for ripping these CDs T_T started The Trouble with Physics, though!

Onto work…

Neutrinos:
Catching up what I meant to do yesterday, oops! Emailed about meeting.
Starting in on more Neutrinos reading…3rd lecture mostly done, going into fourth. I should collect notes into a cohesive latex document on Monday.
“The lesson of the work was clear: It is easy to shield out the noise men make, but impossible to shut out the cosmos.”
Baaaasically skimmed 3 and 4 by now. They’ll need a re-read tomorrow.
Reading the old low energy document…

Music:
Aim and Ignite!

Other:
Going to watch that movie Wendy recommended…
This looks cool! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004L6NTHU/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004L6NTHU&linkCode=as2&tag=homescnewzealan

Exercise:
Going to try to get in cardio…more silly ab stuff. I need to add flexibility and cardio to some sort of spreadsheet @_@ I’ve got my main lifts down.

Ran ~10 minute mile pace for 22 minutes, not terrible for the elevation and lack of running lately.

Random:
我们人人都爱他 = Everybody loves him. 分手吧 break up.
Downloaded the old CGWAS notes ❤

HEP: 2.5 hour sunk into document and trying to clean up expressions. Several more hours sunk in total.

UC: ~1.5 hours sunk into presentation notes and mirror system notes. The idea of applying a Neumann boundary and using a mirror is very interesting.

UHE: ~1 hr on Moriond…went poorly though, need another?

ST: ~ 2.5 hr in and some code is chugging along, we’ll see.

Exercise: ~1:15 climbing, ~15 weight lifting, ~1 hr dancing

Sleep is good.

CHECK YESTERDAY’S POST Woke up way later than intending, today is starting at noon. Good breakfast etc, but damn… 12:15pm-1pm -> Tan work, intro drafting. 1pm-3:30pm -> ST work…mess 3:30-4 -> Tan work 4-4:30-> Tan work but slow + coffee break 4:30-5 -> Tan work. Working on trying to make progress towards calculating something ;-; 5-6 -> UHE work…some serious progress in collecting a stupid quantity of sources :3 6-6:30-> WebDev + Bleed-over UHE work 6:30-8-> Palantirrrrr + Dinner  + back to webdev? Tan work simultaneously [~30 minutes?] 8-12 -> dance 12-2:30 getting home and eating a bigger dinner…ughhhhhhhh UCA: Almost have a good idea of what I’m doing for the introduction. . .I really need to do some physics tonight. I need to narrow down exactly how I plan to calculate things.  “The procedure is now standard”, apparently…see those references!!! Working through things, slowly… HEP: UHE: New ADSABS search tool is bananas. Example query: here I REALLY need to start going through the Moriond lectures to build an intuition for the physics case of UHE observations. Going to start looking at a realistic length for this paper. ST: MESS. Made some progress with figuring out what is breaking but it all basically comes down to needing to ask someone who knows what they’re doing way better than I do. I wish I could have written the code myself so that there was clear blame when it didn’t work. This is outrageous.  3.5 hours sunk total time as of ~3:48 Random: This looks SUPER cool http://pra.aps.org/abstract/PRA/v39/i12/p6524_1 See yesterday’s random later and look at cosmic coffee papers? Maybe? Probably no time. Cool Tan article: http://physics.aps.org/articles/v2/9 Something to look at another day: http://labs.adsabs.harvard.edu/adsabs/abs/2013JPhCS.442a2015S/ Taiwan internship and DPF funding last minute stuff needs to get done. “Feeling the Texture of Vacuum” sexiest paper title, ever. Node executes asynchronously…so “1, wait(2), 3” executes as 1,3,2. Question…what about when there are multiple edits to a thing? Like, what ? Node interpreter in node ~ Idle for Python. Useful for testing properties of functions NPM is da best? npm help, npm install, npm ls, npm update. Global is to stay safe with people changing APIs… ~3.4.8 stops before 3.5 npm handles package chains. Express + Node

ST: Fixing ygraph / finding out how things fail/ second hour during colloquium, cool knots! Kelvin and vortex knots :3 DOLPHINS…energy from inductive analogy. Running GDB on a single core to see what breaks, will fix ygraph later this evening. Looking at papers in my ST collection: critical phenomena in collapse is an interesting topic, look into more later.

HEP: Two hours into rewriting the notes document. Lots of progress but I lost some time to dinner and sloppiness.

Tan: http://www.int.washington.edu/talks/WorkShops/int_10_46W/People/Hutson_J/Hutson.pdf Cool but not useful for me. EFT approach I found takes the dimer-atom range as an input parameter, which is slightly problematic. Covered N-bosons in one dimension in class, mentioned N-bosons in 2D at the end.

UHE: http://moriond.in2p3.fr/J13/program.php This program is SO sexy ;-; ‘Will azume’ heh, cute calculation for x-rays and suitcases. Adding a half-hour more to sort through the program for Moriond. Got everything downloaded and almost all organized. Organized the rest of the week, though. Need to figure out going to Moriond next year, for sure.

Random: I need to play LoZ: Windwaker again. Also, all Bachata is the same song. Need to work on Integration Bee stuff.  Cool Like Carl notes need to be produced, too. Frozen dinner was okay ish

HEP: Renormalizable theories have at most 3- and 4- point vertices…is this universal? Feyn Arts to generate topologies, apply Feynman rules, paint diagrams… Algebraic simplification of Amplitudes is done by FormCalc… LoopTools can do the numerical evaluation. Downloading Mathematica to facilitate using these tools. Mathematica in and working. FeynArts in and somewhat useful, practice file under-way. ~2 hours in [bill as one for slowness?]

Tan:
Progress. Read over the NNLO (EFT) calculation for the process and have most of my references organized, I think.

Random: Curious to see how this page develops: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollis_(singer)
Started on a document for my physics resources…
