6/14-15/14

Friend was late D: but I ate some delicious food in Santa Fe! Note to self: I owe Ben like ~15 dollars.

Working on a budget…

My to do list just does not stop growing 😦

ST: Will fill in progress

QCD: Will fill in progress

Neutrinos: Organized scheduling for the summer some and now onto ROOT tutorials!

MATH:

Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science.

6/12-13/14

Excited a friend is visiting!

Neutrinos: Made some progress. Things are looking good, I should be doing useful software things soon…reviewing ROOT first.

Health: I’m not sure when to take my protein shake since, apparently, creatine timing DOES matter and it contains a non-negligible dose 🙂 It’s sort of a good problem to have…I guess before and after is how it goes .-.

ST: Making progress…

CH: Made some progress on numerics! I actually have code that runs and produces a Born-level cross section.

6/10-11/14

Training is soooo much fun…and there’s more tomorrow!

Neutrino/LANL: Got my to-do list for the week, effectively! Which is good 🙂 Getting a computer setup soon~
Attended a seminar on PHENIX and am learning some heavy ion physics.

ST: Apparently, panic is not necessary. There’s no real progress on the paper…which makes sense, given that it’s mostly my responsibility and I’m sort of a roadblock at the moment.
This is pretty cool http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/10041/how-to-get-only-files-created-after-a-date-with-ls

Fitness/Nutrition: Schedule it allll out. I just need to get in on time and do it! Food has been planned all day and dinner sounds amazing. EVERYTHING WENT ACCORDING TO PLAN. Not bad for a bad night’s sleep 🙂
On food…this looks good: http://blog.foodnetwork.com/fn-dish/2014/06/altons-top-5-tactics-to-make-steak/
Run went moderately well…but I ate two donuts that were less than planned @_@ so I’ll be making that up later I guess 😛

6/9/14

Up early today…we’ll see if it helps anything. So far I’m mostly on schedule..

Relearned the word “sordid”

Completed exit counseling for my student loans @_@

Neutrinos: Morning is being spent on Python and software reinstallation.
Nucifer is a little weird…
“No information appears to be available regarding the origin of the name “Nucifer”. It is sometimes published in all-caps (“NUCIFER”), implying that it might be an acronym, but this usage is not consistent, not even among publications and presentations written by participants in the project.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nucifer_experiment

It looks like a nuclear bomb WOULD be detectable in a neutrino detector seeing as their peak power is much greater than a reactor and those are detectable ~1000s of km.

Apparently it’s hard to get the correct chirality out of Kaluza-Klein models. The Trouble with Physics is pretty good.

ST: Making some slow slow progress.

Other: Got some progress on complex analysis~

6/6/2014

Need a birthday present for the brother…

30: Planning

1 hr: QFT, Neutrino/QCD cross-listing
Lubos may be crazy, but dang this was solid: http://physics.stackexchange.com/questions/2672/calculation-of-the-cross-section I need to up my Complex Analysis game..

2.5 hrs: Electronics, detailed in notebook.

1 hr: Reviewing notebook and noting what I did for Lindley. In response to spam from me, Jenny Lee is too cool

No worries!  We’re on the same wavelength.  Hope all is well in Los Alamos.  If you get to hang out in ABQ, don’t forget a breakfast burrito from Golden Pride!

^_^ super nice.

The fact that the relic abundance of dark matter can be split amongst candidates is an important complication that cannot be ignored.

@_@ Kusenko is super cool, too!

I feel like I know quite a bit of the YTG album without knowing it…

6/4&5/2014

Training killed me a little. I am waiting to hear back on software, still. I will be a little frustrated if I don’t hear back tomorrow or if I hear back with a request to upload it to something else… Looking forward to the student association thing tonight, though!

Exercise: Need to lift stuff today…didn’t spend enough time at the gym, squats barely happened (and were pretty hard) rowing went well!

Nutrition: God this looks good http://www.fitocracy.com/knowledge/baked-scotch-eggs/?utm_source=Fitocracy+Users&utm_campaign=241ba835a5-Baked_Scotch_Eggs_6_3_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c1f25ec28f-241ba835a5-237915525

6/2&3/14

A lot done in terms of both training and taking on more responsibilities.

Cool life update:
I’ve secured funds and permission [big difference] to attend the SLAC Summer Institute 2014
I’ve secured permission [funds still being worked out!] to attend COSMO 2014.
and
I’ve secured funds for continuing my GSR until the October! So I won’t be TA-ing.
I am still figuring out if I’ll be staying at Los Alamos for the late summer…but I will definitely be back in LA for July 4th weekend [Probably the 3rd – 7th]. Decision to come in a couple weeks.
I’ve got a lot to do to make myself worth the things I’m intending to receive…but I am definitely looking forward to it.

Chemical Hazard Training tomorrow…that’s going to be fun.

Planning now…a decent proxy for real productivity, if you ask me. Though, I am legitimately waiting on software to install. I think I have defeated my error messages, though! Root is installed…I guess I can play with that after some more planning.

Exercise:
I’m going to add the two Phrakture stretching/mobility routines…but I think I’m going to need to print them or add them to fitocracy somehow.
When I come back to LA super blood-doped, I’m going to try and figure out a routine to take advantage of that…but it’ll be messy since I’m going and coming back to Los Alamos. This is very cool: http://examine.com/supplements/Creatine/
Trying to add mobility work for my hips…
Apparently, today is a rest day on the silly ab challenge!

ROOT:
Starting and stopping sessions, histogramming.

Planning:
Exercise – Weights are good for main lifts, programmed into spreadsheet…the ICF accessories are a bit finicky though.
Reading for June is planned 🙂
LANL Goals are pretty straightforward…
QCD Goals similar
ST Goals similar
Finance goals, messy…need to determine when I’ll start getting money flowing in and how much. I set aside a little in savings, but I’m going to need to move more over.
July is going to get touched, very slightly for goals…
Figured out some of my medical stuff!

Software still doesn’t work 😦
